Announcing the 2023 Royal Newfoundland Regiment Memorial High School Hockey Tournament – Featuring girls’ hockey teams for the first time!
February 3, 2023
Plans are well underway for the annual Royal Newfoundland Regiment Memorial High School Hockey Tournament, which was launched in April 2016, and sees high school hockey teams from across the province compete in a week-long tournament in Paradise, NL.
This invitational hockey tournament is run by a Board of Directors composed of former members of the Regiment and other volunteers, in partnership with Holy Spirit High School and The Royal Newfoundland Regiment. Its aim is to commemorate the Regiment’s rich legacy and history in NL and highlight its continued esprit de corps and military service for more than 227 years. The Regiment has a rich hockey heritage dating back to World War I.
This is the largest high school hockey tournament in the province. Close to 900 players, coaches and officials are expected to participate, along with thousands of fans. The 2023 tournament will also include female teams for the first time. Players will compete for individual and team awards and trophies named for Regimental members, battle honours and significant Regimental events.
The tournament runs from April 24-30, 2023 with an official opening ceremony and skills competition on Friday, April 28 and a closing ceremony on April 30. In addition to the games, there will be 50/50 draws, apparel for sale, and a recruiting display hosted by the Regiment. The public is invited to attend all games played at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.
This promises to be another great year of hockey. Don’t miss out!
